Raptors Lay a 106-69 Spanking On Vince and the Nets
By Andrew DubowecThe Toronto Raptors gave the New Jersey Nets a lesson in total team basketball, with all 12 players scoring in a 106-69 spanking.
Talk about the power of the three ball. Raps hit 13 of 22 from beyond the arc for 39 points. On 22 regular field goals the Raps would have needed to hit 20 of 22 to get more points than they hit from long distance.
The Raptors stumbled out of the gate, but regrouped to finish the 1st quarter tied at 21-21. After that, the Raps laid a hurt on the Nets and the outcome was never in doubt. Jose Calderon, Juan Dixon, Carlos Delfino and Rasho Nesterovic all played a role in turning the tide in Toronto's favor in the second frame.
This victory was about 'team' basketball. Solid defence, quick hands and good rebounding were the deciding factor. Of course, Bargnani had another spectacular game with 21 points/6 boards in only 30 minutes.
Vince Carter was held to a mere 7 points, on a night when he reached the 15,000 point plateau. What really stood out to me was that Vince's 'defence' was just terrible.
Here are video highlights of Bargnani's game and Bosh's 55 foot buzzer beater:
