Our Boxing Day Special - The Two Best Raptors Blogs on the Net and More

 By Walter Dubowec

With our beloved Raptors off over Christmas, we decided to provide RaptorTalk readers with our own version of a Boxing Day Special, (for American friends - Boxing Day is December 26th, the day after Christmas and it is Canada's #1 shopping day).

First, in honor of Boxing Day we have a photo of Boxing Legend and former World WelterWeight & MiddleWeight Champion Thomas 'the Hitman' Hearns ready to take down Walter Dubowec (aka me) with a single punishing blow when we got together in Detroit. Thomas is one of sports true gentlemen and Raptor fans know that the Detroit Pistons are lucky to have an icon like Thomas sitting courtside at the Palace (while the Raps have a towel waving car dealer who feeds bogus stories to Marty York as our pseudo courtside celebrity).

Second, let's get to the real purpose of today's entry which is to give you our Boxing Day Special recommendation.

We all know that diehard Raptor fans can't get enough information about their favorite team. There are a bunch of hoops blogs out there - but many are a little too juvenile for our liking and others are updated about once a month which is kinda pointless.

Of course, you can always check in daily with the beat guys like Michael Grange, Eric Smith, Doug Smith and Chuck Swirsky for their regular Raptors updates (like we do at RaptorTalk).

But what if you want more? What if you're looking for a different Raptors point of view and don't know which where to turn in the sea of blogs and chat forums that are scarrered across the internet?

Well, we're going to point you in the direction of the top two Toronto Raptors blogs on the planet. In our opinion, these are two must-read blogs for all true Raptors fans (listed in no particular order).

Raptors Talk

The guys at RaptorsTalk have done a spectacular job of updating their site and developed one of the best blog sites anywhere. Don't get me wrong, the old site was very good, but the new one is top tier! They provide great post game updates along with video and pics. The new layout is very cool.

BTW, if we'd known about this site sooner we would have selected a different name for our site (they are Raptors plural and we are Raptor_ singular)!!

The Arsenalist

Doesn't sound like a Raptors blog, but it is and a damn good one at that. The Arsenalist covers the Raptors as well as anyone on the net, besides following the Arsenal football club. His site recently had a makeover too and it remains one of the best spots for Raptors fans. The Arsenalist is quicker than anyone when it comes to post-game Raptors summaries.

To make his site even better, the Arsenalist covers our favorite soccer club, Toronto FC and provides MLS commentary you can't find anywhere else.

If you're looking for what real intelligent Raptor fans have to say and are tired of half-baked opinions you find on chat forums and second rate blogs, then you gotta check out Raptors Talk and the Arsenalist.

Now where we here at RaptorTalk are a little technologically challenged, these sites are as polished and professional as any sports blogs anywhere. We have them both blogs linked on our site, just to the left. These sites are both a Two MoonBlocks up!

And to wrap up the Boxing Day Special from RaptorTalk, here are video highlights from Thomas 'the Hitman' Hearns' spectacular career which included memorable battles against Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran! Sure would be nice to have my friend Mr. Hearns patrolling the lane for the Raptors!
