Colangelo: "I'm In The Market To Do Something"
By RaptorTalk
In the latest issue of ESPN Magazine, Ric Bucher wrote an article titled, "Buy Opportunity - GM's Can Fix Their Rosters With One-Sided Deals, So Why Won't They?"
According to Bucher, it only appears that Bryan Colangelo is actively pursuing opportunities to upgrade his team now, while other teams are fixated on dumping salary in anticipation of the 2010 free agent crop.
Here is what Bucher had to say regarding the Raptors:
"The Cavs, Suns, Mavs and Raptors are four teams that can go either way. All are one quality player away from being serious title contenders. All also have expiring contracts that put them in position to enter the 2010 sweepstakes.
Only the Raptors though, claim to be looking at aggressively bolstering their lineup now. Sources say Toronto inquired about Al Harrington and Gerald Wallace, and Bryan Colangelo says he would happily give up his place at the free agent table two years from now for an upgrade today.
“I’m a realist,” he says. “There are only three prize guys, and we’re trying to keep one of them [Bosh]. I’m in the market to do something.”
Of course, only Colangelo knows if he is just talking, a front office version of false hustle."
It certainly appears that Bryan sees an opportunity to improve the Raptors sooner than later. If for no other reason than he needs to keep Chris Bosh happpy.
